Spiked Horchata recipe
Erica Sagon
Spiked homemade horchata has starred on a past cocktail menu at the distillery, thanks to bartender Kevin O’Brien, and it was amazing! When we get a hankering for it at home, chances are good that we’re grabbing the horchata from a taco truck (along with allll the guac and chips and tacos) — and, spiked simply with our Lake House Spiced Rum, a deeply flavored cocktail is just seconds away.
SPIKED HORCHATA
By Kevin O’Brien of Cardinal Spirits
1.5 ounces Lake House Spiced Rum
4-5 ounces horchata (homemade, store bought, from a taco truck, whatever works!)
Ground cinnamon, for garnish
Combine rum and horchata in a glass filled with ice. Stir gently to combine.
Garnish with ground cinnamon.
Note: a splash of our Songbird Coffee Liqueur is also excellent in this drink! Let’s say a half-ounce? You can pull back on the rum by a half-ounce if you’d like to keep the ABV in check.
