HOT TODDY RECIPE
Erica Sagon
Chilly nights call for a hot cup of tea. Adding a splash of whiskey to it won't hurt. And while you're at it, maybe a little honey and lemon juice and bitters? What you have there is a Hot Toddy. Cardinal Spirits bartender Baylee Pruitt shows how to make this classic warm cocktail. At its most basic, a Hot Toddy can be made with hot water, but hot tea adds flavor without much extra work.
HOT TODDY
2 ounces Cardinal Spirits Straight Bourbon Whiskey
1/2 ounce honey syrup
1/4 ounce fresh squeezed lemon juice
2 dashes aromatic bitters
Orange-spiced black tea, hot, to taste
Clove-studded lemon wheel, for garnish
Add whiskey, honey syrup, lemon juice and bitters to a mug. Top with hot tea, stir gently, then garnish with lemon wheel.
