High Proof Laughs

Limestone Comedy Festival and Cardinal Spirits present live comedy at the distillery featuring emcee Mat Alano-Martin!

Live with Brent Terhune, Bob Nugent, Alex Price, and Shanda Sung. $5 cash donation at the door to benefit the Middle Way House. Limited seating available. Doors close when the show starts! 21+ only please.

Brent Terhune
Characters, voices, one liners, and time-tested monologues-comedian Brent Terhune is the embodiment of all these things and more. Not many comics can pull off Brent’s laid-back style of comedy and still remain just as absurd and funny, but equally relevant and relatable at the same time. Currently, Brent is a writer for the nationally syndicated Bob & Tom Show as well as the co-host of the immensely popular podcast that is enjoyed by dozens of listeners, The Interweb Podshow.  He’s also appeared at the Iowa Comedy Festival as well as Gilda’s Laugh Fest. Whether talking about the everyday struggles of being a redhead, life as a college student and radio DJ, or his off-the-wall Uncle Frank and family, Brent is sure to keep you laughing well after he’s left the stage.

Bob Nugent
Bob Nugent is a comedian hailing from Bloomington, Indiana. His podcast 'History Bluffs' has featured some of the best comedians working today, his Instagram account (@idrewastupid) features neat drawings of monsters, and his jokes are met with mixed reviews at bars/grilles across the Midwest.

Alex Price
At six feet, eight inches, Alex Price was always going to be the center of attention anyway. He developed an outsized sense of humor to match his physical stature and quickly became known in comedy circles far away from his native Indiana. His unflinching, self-deprecating and hilarious take on life as an actual giant form the basis of an act that's garnered him opening spots for Kyle Kinane, Brian Posehn, and Hannibal Buress. It's a perspective you've likely never considered, but that you're sure to never forget.

Shanda Sung
Shanda is a stand up from Bloomington, IN. When she is not performing stand up on stages all around the midwest, she is picking up the same toys over and over again as the mother of two young boys. Her comedy is mined from the absurdity of parenthood and being a stay at home mom. Find her wasting time on twitter at @shandaspanda"

Sip & Sign with Nancy Hiller

Join our friend and Bloomington treasure Nancy Hiller on the patio for cocktails — she'll sell and sign copies of her latest book, "Making Things Work: Tales from a Cabinetmaker's Life."

Nancy is a custom cabinet and furniture maker, and owner of NR Hiller Design, Inc. She's known for her uncompromising craftsmanship and many of us here at Cardinal have been longtime fans of hers. Plus, she's a total hoot to talk to.

More about her book:
"Honest, earthy, and wryly humorous, this collection of tales drawn from more than 30 years of experience at shops in England and the United States is thought provoking as well as entertaining. We follow Hiller as she stumbles into furniture making after dropping out of Cambridge University, finds employment in one, then another, English workshop, grapples with monotony, sexism, and self-doubt, attempts escape, and eventually makes peace with her vocation."

Whether this is your first Tiki Tuesday, or your 100th, this one is not to be missed. Come and wish Chris and Baylee the best of luck in Miami.

SOLD OUT Spice Blending with Lior Lev Sercarz of La Boîte Spice Company

  • Cardinal Spirits

THIS EVENT IS SOLD OUT, WAITLIST ONLY

Imagine Mario Andretti teaching you how to drive. Ansel Adams coaching you on photos. Voice lessons from Elton John.

This is what it is like to learn about spices from Lior Lev Sercarz, the master spice blender and owner of the legendary La Boite spice company in New York City. Lior's spice blends are a thing of dreams for big-deal chefs, at-home cooks and anyone in between who loves to eat and drink. Lior seeks out the very best sources in the world for everything from saffron to cinnamon, and combines them like no one else does.

We recently collaborated with Lior on our Terra Botanical Gin, and now, we're hosting him at Cardinal Spirits for a spice-blending event.

Join us for a fun evening where you'll meet Lior, create your own custom blend alongside him, sample small bites and cocktails prepared with his spice blends, and leave with a signed copy of his beautiful new book.

Tickets are $50, and include small plates, cocktails and Lior's latest book, The Spice Companion.

Here is the plan for the evening:

Spice blending presentation from Lior. He'll answer the question everyone has after sticking their nose in a tin of one of his blends, or tasting a dish that has been seasoned with his spices: How does he do it? Secrets revealed! Knowledge bombs dropped! Minds blown! But also: Practical spice advice for home cooks on sourcing, blending and seasoning.

Spice-blending bar, where Lior guides each guest to create a custom blend to take home.

Book signing for Lior's latest book, The Spice Companion, a magnificent, beautiful, keep-it-forever hardbound guide to more than 100 spices and how to use them in incredible ways. (Book included in ticket price.)

Small plates + cocktails prepared with Lior's spices

Lior has worked with some of the most notable chefs in the world, including Eric Ripert and Daniel Boulud, who rely on Lior who rely on Lior to come up with blends that express their legendary culinary creativity.

But you don't have to have a Michelin star to use his spice blends, or think about flavor and seasoning in the imaginative way that he does. (Also, you don't have to be a chef to buy them — his blends are sold online at laboiteny.com)

Lior won't make you feel bad about your spice rack at home. And he won't shame you for buying your spices at the grocery store. He will change the way you look at flavor and seasoning — from salads to veggies to roasts to cocktails — in an eye-opening way.

Here's what it's like to experience spices Lior's way, 'from the New York Times:

"The spices he laid out smelled and tasted nothing like the time-forgotten powders in my pantry. They were steroidally potent, burrowing in my nostrils like tiny aromatic voles. After giving an umber mound of cumin a whiff, I felt as if someone had probed my sinuses with a wire brush. I realized then how ignorant I had been."

We hope to see you here at the distillery for this wonderful, one-of-a-kind event!

SOLD OUT [Food and Beverage Industry] Spice Blending with Lior Lev Sercarz of La Boîte

  • Cardinal Spirits

THIS EVENT IS SOLD OUT, WAITLIST ONLY

When it comes to spices, Lior Lev Sercarz is the guy. The best of the best. A revolutionary. A master spice blender and owner of the legendary La Boîte spice company in New York City, Lior's custom blends are a thing of dreams for big-deal chefs, at-home cooks and anyone in between who loves to eat and drink.

We'd love for you to meet Lior at a private event at Cardinal Spirits just for our food and beverage friends. We recently collaborated with Lior on our Terra Botanical Gin, and now we'd like to introduce him to other equally passionate makers who are giving the Midwest food and drink scene its edge.

Here's the plan:

- Spice blending demo and presentation from Lior. He'll answer the question everyone has after sticking their nose in a tin of one of his blends, or tasting a dish that has been seasoned with his spices: How does he do it? Secrets revealed! Knowledge bombs dropped! Minds blown! But also: Practical advice.

- Small bites and cocktails prepared with Lior's spices served throughout.

- Book signing for Lior's latest book, The Spice Companion, a magnificent, beautiful, keep-it-forever guide to more than 100 spices and how to use them in incredible ways.

- Tour of Cardinal Spirits distillery.

Notable chefs across the country consider Lior their go-to spice guy because he sources the best spices in the world and combines them like no one else does (Lior himself was a sous chef for Daniel Boulud before opening La Boîte). His spices coat the brisket at Momofuku Ssäm Bar. He has spice collaborations with Eric Ripert of Le Bernardin, and he created a custom spice blend for one of Brooklyn Brewery's beers. Our gin was his first work for a spirit.

Spices don't just bring a dish together, they bring people together, too. (Awwwwwww!) We hope to see you here at the distillery for this wonderful event.

At more than double the proof of vodka, it is not meant to be drank straight, nor in cocktails without first proofing down. Rather, it’s a well-crafted ingredient for at-home cocktailers and herbalists who want to create their own infusions, tinctures, bitters and other recipes calling for high-proof alcohol as the base.

More release details coming soon!

It's an adults only event at Conner Prairie! Last year was a ton of fun... those villagers get pretty surely when there aren't any kids around.

“Enjoy an adults-only evening of hors d’oeuvres, wine, craft beer and spirits, hosted by the Conner Prairie Horizon Council, as you take a candlelit stroll through 1836 Prairietown! Vendors include Tinker Coffee, Sunrise Baker, Cardinal Spirits, Scarlet Lane Brewery, Taxman Brewing Company, McClure's Orchard, Smoking Goose and more!

Early bird ticket sales are going on now through Nov. 28. Purchase tickets soon to take advantage of the lower price!

This event is for those 21 and older.”
